Laundry day! Day 8

We all talk in the morning, Rusty and Riley have two day’s left and it is a windy day. We could go pick up the car and tour the Island of Eleuthera in a rental car. But Juliette say’s “We need the car on the day we take them to the airport, tomorrow would be better.”

Rusty thinks on it! And said “I need to do my laundry!” I have nothing to wear to the airport, I only brought a few things to wear and it’s all dirty! How about we do nothing today and just relax and do laundry!”

Juliette makes eggs Benedict for every one and does some much needed cleaning around the boat. Riley helps her dad find the clothing that needs to be washed. Two loads of laundry takes half the day! Rusty jokes with Riley that her favorite pants just few off the line and she goes out to look! Riley said “ Daddy that’s not funny, I need to wear them to the airport!”

It’s getting a little boring just sitting on the boat all day. Romeo decides to take a ride in the dingy to the beach to look for shells, Rusty and Juliette join him. Riley stays on the boat for to catch some ZZZ’s and take a shower. Romeo lowers the dingy and the three of us take a ride to the beach.

Romeo drops off Juliette at one end of the beach, she need’s to get a longer walk to get rid of extra energy.

   Rusty had a long walk in Spanish Wells and his feet were still hurting, but he was always ready to go anyway!

OH BOY! IT’S ANOTHER BEACH!

Rusty is going to take shells back in his luggage, along with the Clark Pump for the water maker to be ship back to the company, for the $1,600.00 refund when the old one is returned.

 

And we did find some more shells.

 

It was nice to have a day to relax for a change.

Pork chops  and mash potatoes for dinner.

Holy Mackerel, Day 7

Once again the four of us take turns sharing the two computer’s to get time on the internet at Spanish Wells, we spoke with family on Skype. Talk to Rusty’s  roommate Don, to check how he was doing with all the puppy dogs.

This a good likeness of my dog, but Rusty please e-mail me a picture of my puppy dog I miss her!!

Juliette was so pleased to see her old dog Raquel still being lazy and happy on her bed. Talked to Chelsea and got to see her baby on video. We talked to her and she was all smiling it was nice to interact with the  baby Talore.

She born was in December a month early and she is doing great and is a cute tiny baby.

Going back thru the Devils Back Bone to get back to Harbour Island. Nice calm sea’s it should be a faster trip without all the big waves, we had the day we came out.

We trolled all the way through with out a bite.

 

  Romeo has to go from one marker to the next, then go around a pole and  head in toward the dump. We will anchor and walk to the airport the next day.

Another boat is heading towards us as we enter the Harbour. Romeo goes to the Portside and has to come close to a small Island out in the middle. Romeo warns us, that we will have to reel in the fishing poles, we are almost there. Then all of the sudden one of the pole start’s singing. Rusty runs to the pole and starts reeling, Romeo backs the power off the motor. Romeo says to Juliette, “ Reel in the other pole!” Rusty is fighting his fish we were all interested to see what kind of a fish on the end of his line, we had trolled in the Harbour and never had a hook up before. Juliette is taking picture. There it is, we can see it is a sizeable Mackerel and a keeper.

Juliette was reeling in the other pole, but got distracted and excited about all the action. She left her line out about fifty feet and forgot about it, we watched Rusty bring the Mackerel up to the boat. We get a couple of picture of him fishing. Then wham the other pole Juliette left out, the line starts singing it has a hit. Juliette runs to the pole and pick’s it up she starts reeling and is fighting the fish. '”Wow it’s a double hook up!”

This time Rusty is busy with his fish,  she finally gets to hold a pole. Juliette is reeling the fish in and we all say “Holy Mackerel, another Mackerel!'” Rusty is to busy with his fish! Juliette just brings it right in the cockpit still on the hook, she will not lose this Mackerel today.

Yes, I forgot to finishing reeling in the pole when Rusty was fighting his fish. But look at my fish!

Juliette reminds her brother that her fish is bigger! And is happy with her choice of putting on a the blue and silver and black lure.

      That’s two fish in five minutes, Romeo decides to troll the area again. But that was it, no more bites. We were lucky, there must have been a school that came through the Harbour, the same time as we were trolling.

Romeo anchors by the dump again, Rusty filets the fish and Juliette gets them packed for the freeze.

And guess what? Fish for dinner again, Riley is not to sure about the thought of eating fish again, so she said “WHAT IS WITH YOU PEOPLE WHO EAT SOME FORM OF FISH EVERY OTHER DAY, ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY?

 

Juliette tells Rusty he can fish off the back of the boat if he would like to. She had heard other people talking about catching fish out in the Harbour. Romeo and Juliette had see guides in the area “bone fishing” by the dump anchorage. Juliette had saved some of the meat off the Mackerel, so she rigged her brother a pole. Rusty cast out, put the pole in the holder and cracked a beer.

Next thing you know he gets a hit and the fight is on! Rusty wins and reels the fish to the boat. “WOW IT IS A BIG NEEDLE FISH!”

We let this one go. The book said not much meat on them, but this one look’s like it could  feed all four of us. We have all the fish we need in the freezer, Thanks Rusty.

I flew 10,000 mile for a good hair cut!Please cut my hair! Day 6

What people will do for a good hair cut! Rusty has been bugging Juliette for a hair cut since his arrival to the Bahamas.

Romeo and Juliette will not cut hair on the boat again, after the last time it took forever to get the hair out of the boat. So they have been waiting for the perfect day with no wind and a nice beach to do it. After fishing the day before, they anchored by the Current Settlement on N. Eleuthera it was a small beach. It was the perfect place to get a hair cut and take a nice walk after breakfast, before going out fishing again. While doing the dishes before breakfast the tongs were falling off the counter and Juliette got a finger stuck inside the kitchen tongs.

She was bleeding badly and couldn’t get it off. Juliette held her hand over the trash can.

Romeo surgically removes the tong with two sets of pliers. Romeo pried them apart to free his wife from the tongs she was imprisoned.

She was thinking “I hope this product that they sell at Walmart gets a recall,” they have a very sharp inside edge and she had felt it a couple of other times, but this time it was ready stuck.

What if some one was alone and this happen? Scary kitchen tools!!!!

Juliette is not to concerned with the cut, it is on the right hand, it is the one she holds her scissors with. The boys will still get there hair cuts on the beach. After the tongs were removed it didn’t hurt anyway. Juliette cut her hands daily being a hairstylist for 23 years and has a high pain threshold, the hair cutting must go on!!! But the evil kitchen tongs no longer live on the boat.

Hey let’s walk all the walk to the end of the beach and then walk to the other end and them walk back to the middle and see if we can find some treasure! Can I come too?

Yeah look what I found!  Someone just took the conch out and just let this shell here to die.

YEAH WERE KEEPING IT!!!

AND ANY MORE WE FIND, YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT, CAPTAIN?! I AM DEEMED THE MASTER SHELL HUNTER OF THE BAHAMAS FOR THE DAY!

YOUR OK WITH IT, RIGHT CAPTAIN? PLEASE CAN WE KEEP IT!

Look it’s a mini hot tub! This feel’s so good on my feet!

Rusty with his new transformed conch shell fists, you want a piece of me? Help me Romeo I can’t get them off! Hurry get the pliers!

Look it’s my first sand dollar! Yeah I’m keeping it too! Rusty had to get his short’s wet to get, it it’s a keeper!

  Now the long walk back to the boat. My feet hurt!

Riley is a little cranky today, she has a bit of a sun burn. She went back on the boat to have some personal time with her “ beach personality”. Daddy needs a break!

Now this is the way to cut hair!

This water is a little cold can you turn up the heat?

What no shampoo that’s the best part, I was robbed! 10,000 miles for this! What kind of  a business are you running? What you think you are retired, well you better think again we will never let you quit! Who will do our hair? What will we do?  Were will we go? Were ever you go, were ever you hide, we will find you and you will cut our hair? You think you can just sail away?  You think your going to get away from us? Just go ahead and try it, it’s not going to work we will never let it happen. So get that out of you head we own you for life, so get use to it lady is not happening! You can never stop cutting our hair! We own you!

Juliette is told she can take the rest of the day off.

So let’s get back to the  REEL business at hand. FISH ON!!!!

Another large Mutton Snapper, Rusty is starting to look like a pole hog! Nice hair cut, can we get a before and after on that?

Now if I could just get her to give me a hair cut, life would be so much better with my hair cut! I already gave her and Riley all my cash, so I will have to try begging and pleading “Miss a hair cut for the poor unfortunate long hair mongrel, can you please see things my way?” Is she listing to me can she read my mind? Will try again tomorrow!

Talk to me, you want us to eat you for dinner? What I could not hear you? Was that a yes? I’m taking that as a yes, it’s finale, you will be our dinner to night and your gonna be good!

Are we done fishing all ready? Let’s go to Spanish Well’s and get a Mooring ball they have one left and Romeo told them we would be there in 45 minutes.

Well if we have to Captain! Riley is so happy with Romeo, please end my misery get me off this boat. Teenagers!

How do you like my hair cut? Romeo met Juliette getting a hair cut 13 years ago and it was love at first cut. He would ask his friends if his hair looked long enough for another hair cut? Margie, his best friend Mike’s wife, told him about Juliette. Margie  would say '”Yeah you are looking a little long around the ears” and he would quickly make an appointment. This was really a big leap for him. He was so cheap, he would cut his own hair with a FlowBee hair cutter. It was a hair cutting machine, the air vacuum would suck up the hair and shears inside would cut it, but let’s just say it’s going to look like a five year old cut it. Romeo didn’t care what his hair looked like until he met Juliette.

Back to Spanish Well’s for the night and now for a 3 mile hike to the store. Rusty was think do you guy’s really walk all the time? Maybe we should get a golf cart? After a few hours of walking and soar feet, we make it back to the boat before dark. Juliette buy’s more food and some fresh bread from the baker.

Cold front came thru over night, but on the ball in the Harbour was nice and quite.
